North Carolina Cued Speech Association

The North Carolina Cued Speech Association (NCCSA) is an affiliate of the NCSA.

NCCSA supports individuals, families and professionals through their Cued Speech journey by providing educational information, workshops, and social events.

Every May the NCCSA co-hosts Spring Camp Cheerio, a weekend camp in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The family camp provides board, lodging, and recreational activities for all ages. Individuals and families can learn Cued Speech and strategies for spoken language in a casual community setting.

Children are placed in classes where they participate in crafts, games, hiking, canoeing, archery, a water slide, horseback riding and more. While the children are in class, adults attend educational sessions such as Cued Speech classes, advocacy training, technology updates, and raising a child who is deaf or hard of hearing. The camp staff also offers a Young Adults program for college-age adults.

The NCCSA also hosts cueing socials in locations such as Salisbury or Charlotte.
