Cuers for Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Resources (CLEAR)

The Cuers for Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Resources (CLEAR) program is the brainchild of native deaf cuers who recognized the need for cuers to strengthen their leadership, education, and advocacy skills. CLEAR alumni have served on the NCSA board, presented on Cued Speech at national conferences and workshops, and led cue camps throughout the country.

Facilitators lead CLEAR workshops with the goal of enabling participants to carry out the NCSA’s vision, which is championing effective communication, language development, and literacy through the use of cued languages. With the tools provided by CLEAR, participants can determine how to best serve their local cuemmunity’s specific needs.

CLEAR is open to anyone regardless of cueing or hearing ability. We also provide workshops and events to targeted audiences such as teenagers, native deaf adult cuers, and parents or professionals who want to grow Cued Speech in their local community or support system.

CLEAR alumni are equipped with the skills to support and lead activities such as:

  • Facilitating Cued Speech social or networking events for cuers and their communities
  • Providing resources for their state support systems for families with D/HH children
  • Family cueing support and mentorship
  • Presenting at conferences
  • …And wherever their imagination and leadership takes them!
