 Amy Crumrine

Amy Crumrine was diagnosed with a profound hearing loss at the age of 18 months. The cause of the loss is unknown although it is believed that it was progressive. After her mother met Dr. Orin Cornett at a weeklong workshop at Gallaudet University in 1977, she thought she’d try Cued Speech with Amy. From the very beginning, she found that Amy was progressing rapidly and catching up with her peers. Amy was mainstreamed in Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Maryland.

Amy graduated from Rockville High School, and then moved to Rochester, New York where she attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, the home of the National Technical Institute of the Deaf. She went on to graduate with a degree in Social Work and then a Master’s degree in Deaf Education. After moving back down to Maryland, she took classes at Gallaudet University and obtained a Master’s degree in School Counseling. She and her husband, Roy reside in Maryland and are parents of Rosemary (8 years old) and Paul (4 years old). Amy is currently a full time mom while she is working on getting CueSignCamp 2006 and chairing the NCSA Conference Celebrating 40 years fo Cued Speech.
